May Updates

Hello Everyone! It's been awhile since I've blogged so I have tons of updates and pictures to share from our very busy month so far. We started the month celebrating our 6 year anniversary. The kids stayed with Sugar and Pop Seale while David and I enjoyed and wonderful dinner at Lawry's...it was so quiet there :-) After that we stopped by one of David's friend's bar for some drinks.

The next weekend David, Ginger, my dad and I participated in a fund raising event called Relay for Life. It's all night fund raiser where a memeber from each team walks around the track all night. They had a wonderful ceremony and some fun events going on. We took Trent out there for awhile but he started getting tired and was having melt downs so my mom came to get him :-) I guess there is a thing called too much bounce house. I look forward to doing this again next year!!

Last Sunday we celebrated Mother's day and have a very nice day. Melissa and Steve had the moms over along with their kids for a Sunday Brunch. The guys were in charging of cooking while the mom's just enjoyed some mimosas and all the great food. The little ones had a blast running around and playing and even the cold weather that blew in didn't phase them.

Then this last Monday David started a new job with regular day time hours! YAY!! He's working at a law firm that deals with mortages and foreclosures. They have some great perks for him and we both have a really good feeling about this. So far he's really enjoying his coworkers and the nights off. He'll still be picking up some Saturday shifts at the bar for some extra cash but we'll be enjoying weekends and nights together now.

On Wednesday Carter turned 15 months. I took him to the doctor for his check up and she said he looked the size of an average two year old and was overall very impressed by his motor skills and words. Here are his stats:

Height: 34 inches above 95th percentile
Weight: 29 lbs 2 oz 95th percentile
Head: 19 inches 80th percentile
He has more than 10 words. Some of them include da da, dog, tren (trent), go, no no, ma ma, dun (done/down), boo (boozer) (but he still mostly calls us both da da; the doctor gave me a sweet little smile when I asked about this and she told me to just correct him and he'll be calling me ma ma very soon). Some other words we've heard but not regularly are sitting and good morning.

He loves trying to twist lids on and off, staking objects, playing with balls and playing with his big brother. He follows basic directions of getting things like his diaper and putting things in containers when we ask and direct him. He is wearing size 24 month clothes, size 7 shoes and size 5 diapers. He drinks about 24 ozs of whole milk a day and is trying very hard to use his fork and spoon. He loves bananas, breakfast bars, cheese, raisins, peas and macaroni and cheese. Carter can point out his eyes, nose, tounge, feet and belly.

Carter is so sweet and loveble and gives hugs and kisses all the time. He is also a hug ham when you bust the camera out he'll pose for you. He also has a short fuse and if you have to take something from him you will get a scream and full fledge tanturm!
Carter started at the boys new daycare on Monday and Trent starts on the 24th. He has one more week at his current school so we wanted him to be able to finish up there. Carter's teacher said he did awesome his first week and was schocked he's never been to daycare before. We are only half way through the month and still have more to our busy schedule, I'm actually really looking forward to June when we can all get situated in our new routines.

How they have grown

We went to the zoo yesterday and we also went to the same zoo about a year ago to the day. Here are the pictures a year apart...Carter has obviously gotten bigger but on Trent look at the difference in his legs reaching the ground! And for those of you who like to follow David's blue tooth, the surgery went well and he has removed it the majority of the time unless he's driving now :-)

Disney on Ice

Last Wednesday I took Trent on a mommy/son date to Disney on Ice. I found some tickets for a great deal and couldn't pass up the opportunity to do something with just the two of us. The show didn't start until 7:30 so we went out to dinner first. Of course I planned some extra time so I left work early but some how seemed to hit traffic every where so we were a little rushed. I decided on taking him to Campisi's since they had two of his favorites, pizza and french fries. He LOVED their cottage fries and kept calling them chip fries (since they looked like potato chips). After a quick dinner we headed to American Airlines for the show; unfortunately the GPS got me a little lost and it started pouring down rain but we were finally able to make it to the show and only missed the first few minutes. Our seats were pretty close and Trent was just in heaven! The show was interactive with the audience and really was entertaining for all ages. We got some cotton candy and a Mickey Mouse stick that spun around with lights. He was dancing here and there and was very excited to see so many characters he knew. He lost a little interest during the princesses part but when Toy Story characters came out he was so happy. He leaned over and said "Ma ma, I want to give Buzz Lightyear a hug!" It was so cute!!!

We had a nice evening out the two of us and I hope to be able to do more things one on one with the boys as they get older. It's nice getting them separated so they get attention individually and we get that time with them. I look forward to more mommy/son dates in the future!

1 year old

Carter turned 1 year old on February 12th. Our baby isn't a baby anymore!! He is walking all over the place. He is working on trying to say more words and babbles non stop. He wears 18-24 month clothes, size 6 shoes and is in size 5 diapers. Carter has done wonderful with the transition from bottle to sippy cups along with formula to whole milk. He is a very observant little man and mimics us all the time and anything we do not want him to touch or play with, he does! He has a very short temper and screams when he doesn't get his way but on the plus is a cuddlier and will give "kisses" and hugs all the time. He adores his brother and just wants to be around him and play with him. He's is not the best sleeper at nights and will often wake up but can normally go back to sleep on his own.

At his doctor's visit he did very good and she said he's right on track for development. Here are his stats:

Height: 32 1/2 inches 97th percentile
Weight: 27lbs 2 oz 93rd percentile
Head: 18 3/4 inches 93rd percentile

I asked the nurse Trent's and they were only off by very little!!
For Carter's actual birthday I took the day off to hang out with my boys. It snowed 12 inches that day and we went to play in the snow that morning. Carter was very unsure but Trent had a blast running around, making snow angels and throwing snow balls at me. We couldn't stay out too long since Carter was having trouble standing in snow. After lunch and naps we headed to the doctor for Carter's check up. Afterwards I took them to the mall to play in the kids play area. Then we headed home for dinner, a movie and cake. Trent told me Carter had the best birthday party ever!! I told him to wait until the actual party where there would be more people than just us :-)

11 months

So here we are at 11 months old and I cannot believe how time has flown by. Carter is wearing size 5 diapers, 18 month clothes and has two little teeth on the bottom. He's doing good with his sippy cups and eats meals just like his big brother, just cut up in smaller pieces. He babbles and talks and some of it really sounds like words. He for sure has ma ma and da da down. He's a very observant and likes taking everything in. He has taken a few steps but has not officially walked yet. Trent and him are getting along a lot better; Trent actually tries to play with him, it's really sweet. Carter is definitely the baby of the family, he loves being held and loves being around us. He's down to about 2 naps a day and sleeps great through the night. When he's done eating or upset he loves letting out a very high pitched scream. Carter is a huge ham and loves getting pictures taken. He will bring me the camera and start posing, it's too cute!

Merry Christmas

This was Carter's first Christmas and what a lucky little guy to have it snow!! Christmas Eve we were supposed to hang out with Grandma Becky and Grandpa Kelly but the roads were too bad so Grandma brought us some dinner and had to head back home. After eating and bedtime I stayed up and finished wrapping the rest of the gifts and found it kind of funny that I had trouble sleeping because I was so excited for Trent to wake up to all his gifts from Santa!! Carter was actually the first one up so we played for awhile until Trent finally woke up then the fun began. We explored the house to find Santa left some "snow" by the chimney and ate all the cookies we left out. We all opened our stockings and gifts and really just enjoyed our morning. Carter wasn't too sure what was going on but had fun playing with all the toys as Trent unwrapped gift after gift. From there we all got ready and headed out for our Christmas brunch with my mom and Kelly. This year seemed like one of the best; the food was awesome and we really enjoyed ourselves! After eating we headed back to our house and opened gifts with mom and Kelly. From there, it was naptime! After everyone got their naps in, we headed to my Aunt Jayne's house in Heath. It was a full house and we had a great time seeing everyone and eating some more good food! Trent really enjoyed playing with my cousin's little guy, it's fun seeing them get older together. Trent would run around and ask where his cousin was, it was too cute!

The next morning started the rest of our Christmas celebrations. We went over to Sugar and Pop Seale's house for brunch and you'll never guess it but yes we opened more gifts! :-) It was very relaxing and Pam, Melissa and I even got to play a game of Life during naptime. After everyone was up we packed up and headed over to Meemaw and Peepaw's house for out final celebration. The kids had a great time running around and playing together.

Even though it's a bit exhausting going from Christmas to Christmas I enjoy every minute of the time we get with our families.
We are so blessed for all the wonderful people in our lives!!

Trent's conversations

Me: Trent are you a ma ma's boy?
Trent: No, I'm a daddy's boy. Daddy's a boy, I'm a boy, Carter's a boy, YOU are a girl

Trent: Ma Ma, what are you looking for?
Me: The remote control
Trent: Mystery took it.

I'm driving and ask Trent if Carter is sleeping.
Trent: No
Trent to Carter: Carter, are you tired?
Me: What is he doing?
Trent: Ma Ma, I'm talking to Carter right now.

We met up with some friends yesterday and they have a 2 month old baby and their little girl is about 6 years old. Trent walked up to her and said very proudly, "I have a baby brother too!"
