Splish Splash

Yesterday Trent, Carter & I went to Aunt Gail's house to hang out and play in the pool. I was so excited that Trent would have a chance to hang out in the pool and he loves going to Gail & Paul's house!! Dad & Ginger were there for a little bit but had to leave after lunch to finish some things up at their new apt in Frisco (just 10 mins from our house!!!) Carter, as normal, was just hanging out and happy to be around everyone. Trent loved jumping in and even more loved with Grandpa Bob threw him in!! After lunch when we went back to swim some more the sun was more over our heads so it made a shadow in the pool of the rafts floating. Trent got so scared and said there were whales in the pool! It took us awhile to convince him they weren't whales but shadows...I just love kids and their imaginations. Later that day my friend, Marguerite, invited us over so the boys could play in the slip & slide. Trent & Austin weren't getting the concept of running and sliding but they sure loved it when they got slide down by the guys!! We had such a great day yesterday hanging out with friends and family.

5 months old

Wow, how time has been flying by! Carter was 5 months old Sunday July 12th and is growing up way too quick for me. He's in size 3 diapers and his clothes vary due to his long legs. He's in about 6 month clothes but for his foot pjs the 9 months fit a bit better. He's eating solid foods 3 times a day (2 fruits & 2 veggies plus rice cereal added to each serving) plus about 3-4 bottles of 6-7 oz a day. This time around I've actually been trying to make most of his solid foods which has been working out pretty well. It doesn't take as long as I thought it would, I feel better about what I'm feeding him and it saves a few dollars here and there. The last week he has FINALLY slept 10-12 hours. My mom "broke" him when we went out of town for Memorial weekend but fixed him when I was out of town on a work trip and when she was helping out with the boys...THANK YOU MOM!!

One of Carter's favorite toys is his feet! He loves grabbing them and trying to eat them. He is also really enjoying his play mat and exersaucer too. Overall, he just likes exploring, watching everyone and being around people. He's a very good and happy baby. He really only is fussy when he's tired or hungry. Trent is starting to get a little jealous here and there but seems to like his little brother; he actually has shared some of his toys with him!

Pump it Up

Days like today just make me wish I could be home more with my boys! Pump it up is a facility that has bounce slides, houses and obstacle courses. They normally do birthday parties but during the summer they have pop in a play days which today was one of them. My sister in law had her 3 nephews and her 3 kids today so we all went up there so the kids could play and burn some energy. They had a BLAST! We actually took them last year on the 4th but this time around they were able to do more on their own. It was actually funny to think a year ago I was about 8 weeks pregnant and now I have a chunky monkey :-) My work is right next door so my mother in law, Pam, came by to say hi and she actually ended up taking Carter back to the office with her which made it so much easier keep an eye on everyone. Afterwards we headed to McDonald's and had some lunch then home for nap time. It's so nice having an extra day off so I can actually just play and have fun with the kids, I love it!!

Family & Good Friends

So now that I'm back at work it's been really hard for me to keep up with blogging so I'm a very behind! On the 13th we had a very very busy but fun day!! My Aunt Gail got married that morning so we attended her wedding at 11am. My sister came into town with her youngest, Teagan, and it was great seeing them both. The wedding was beautiful and just perfect. I just love when we have such wonderful events in our family that brings everyone together outside of the basic holidays. It's great seeing and catching up with everyone.

After the boys got a nap in we headed back to the Frisco area for David's grandfather's 80th birthday. I got to meet some more his family on his dad's side that I haven't met yet. Trent as always had fun playing with his cousins and of course having a "little" piece of cake...

From there, we headed home, repacked the boys bags and headed to drop them off to my mom's house for the evening. We then went to my Aunt's house for a little get together. We only were able to stay for about an hour or so because David's best friend, James, was in town that night only. We then ventured to meet up with him to hang out for the rest of the evening. It was a very long and busy day but such a great time seeing so many people!!

We are hopeful!

So we went to the doctor yesterday and am excited by the advice she has given us to help our little guy out! But first here are his stats:

Height-27inches-95%

Weight-17lbs 13oz-90%

Head-17 inches-75%

The doctor said he was about the size of a 6 month old. So we talked to her about his sleeping habits and how we were concerned that he was still waking on average every 4 hours. She checked him out and found he has sore throat. She said to give him Tylenol before bed to help with that. Then we went over that he has eczema. She recommend Cortaid twice daily along with Aveeno or Aquaphor; this will help relieve the itchy skin which could also be waking him. I told her he also seemed like he has allergies; she said to put a humidifier in his room as they are in door allergies since they don't have outside allergies this early. Also keep it well vacuumed and no dust and the animals out of his room. She said it also could be that he's been fighting a cold after cold. Last but not least, she gave us an awesome hand out on how to train you baby to soothe themselves to sleep without being held or a bottle. We think he is a trained eater meaning when he wakes up he doesn't know how to put himself to sleep without a bottle. She said in about 2 weeks if we follow this we should have a new baby!!

4 months old

Carter turned 4 months last Friday and is just getting so big!! His doctor appt is Thursday so I'll post his stats after that. He is in size 2 diapers and size 3-6 month clothes. His sleep patterns are all over the board! He has slept 9-11 hours a handful of times but still wakes up at least once a night...sometimes twice. He is already eating solid foods twice a day and eats 6-7 ozs in his bottle (so we are blown away he still wakes up to eat but he does!!) Carter is starting to try to roll over (he can get on his side) and has found his feet. He is super ticklish and smiles a lot. I know they grow up right before your eyes so I am really trying to take in every minute I can!!

Playdate Fun

This weekend was so much fun! Saturday evening Trent, Carter and I met up with one of my girlfriends at our community pool. She has a 3 year old and was also babysitting a friends 5 year old boy. We hung out, ate pizza and just let all the boys play, play, play!! Trent did so much better in the pool this year than he did last year. By time we left he was jumping in (with an inter tube around his waste) and would doggy paddle back to the stairs and start all over. (Sorry, I forgot my camera so no pictures.) Last night we had a good friend of David's over, Jason, his wife Jennifer and their two little boys; the oldest is 3 and the youngest is 1. All of them had so much fun running around and playing outside together. She brought over this awesome dessert and of course Trent ate it right up!!! It's so great to be able to do play dates now that he's older plus we actually get more adult time with our friends :-)

Happy Birthday Troy

Last weekend was David's grandfather's 80th birthday party. His family put together a surprise party for him and he sure was surprised!! It was a really good time. Since David's mom and her sisters had their kids around the same time all the little ones are really close in age too. That being said, Trent had a blast playing with them all! David's aunt had a ton of things for them to play with from toys to a parachute and pin wheels. Here are some pictures from the party.

Braden's House?

Trent is really developing a memory of things he does and people he meets. When we went to the zoo, he kept asking to go back for about a week after. One thing he hasn't forgotten is his cousin Braden. My sister was in town at the beginning of the month from North Carolina for her brother in law's wedding. The boys had a blast together!! Every once in awhile he'll ask if we can go to Braden's house or if Braden can come to our house. Just the other morning, the first thing he said when he woke up was "Braden's house?" Hopefully David and I will be able to work something out so we can go visit them soon.
(Above is a picture of them hugging good bye the last time they played together)
Here is a video of the boys jumping on Trent's bed. I normally don't allow this but it was pretty cute :-)

Some Conversations

This one made me realize some things I say to him very often!

I was hanging new monkey decorations in the boy's bathroom. Trent was sitting ther watching and as I finish hanging it I get a very enthusiastic "Good job mama!!!! High five (as he raises his hand to high five me). It's SO cute mama!!"

Tonight I got home from work and was sitting on the couch feeding Carter.

Trent: Come in my play room mama.

Me: After I finish feeding Carter I'll come play with you in your playroom. Will you come give me a hug and kiss?

Trent as he walks to his playroom: When you come in my play room I'll give hug and kiss.

He must know how valuable those hugs and kisses are!! :-)
