Toys, toungue and toes

Today Trent officially rolled over!! He was playing on his mat and that roll from side to side finally turned into a roll over! Lately, Trent has been discovering many new things and most of them are on himself. He has found his feet and just loves them, almost as much as his toys! It never fails during a diaper change, as soon as his socks or pajamas are off those feet are in his hands. Another thing he has been doing for awhile now is making new noises with his mouth and tongue. He'll stick it out, blow bubbles and just try to make any new noise he can with his mouth. It is so amazing watching him learn and discover these little things that don't even phase us anymore.

Snuggle Bug

Well, this last week has been a very long week! If you live in Dallas you are fully aware of the icy weather we have had all week. On top of the scary roads and cold weather outside,Trent came down with a stomach bug starting Tuesday. This has been our first sickness with him, besides the little cold he had but that really didn't affect him much at all. He was so dehydrated by time we fully realized he had a bug he was so limp and tired. It was extremly scary. After staying home with him all day Wednesday and giving him as much pedialyte as I could he was much better! He now is finally getting back on his regular formula and foods. Lately at night since Trent has started to roll side to side (not fully over yet) we have caught him cuddling with his bumper. We do give him a little doggy blanky to cuddle with (see right next to him) but I guess he prefers the bumper.

4 months old

Yesterday Trent turned 4 months old! He is 97% in height, 82% in weight and 75% for his head. We got a big boy on our hands...no wonder his pants are more like capris :-) We've been giving him some rice cereal for about a month now so we have the go ahead with other baby foods, like veggies and fruits. Last night he had some peas and at first I don't think he knew what was going on but by the end of his meal he was chasing the spoon with his mouth. Trent is doing really great with his head and now is trying so hard to pull himself up. When we are out and about he does not like laying in his carrier sometimes and wants to just sit up and check out the world around him. He has also discovered that we have a dog and cat now and has started to try to touch them. I'm not sure how they feel about this but it's pretty cute to watch Trent stare at them in amazement.

Cry Baby

I believe, while pregnant and after the baby arrives, one of the most important things to have is a sense of humor. Life is not perfect, husbands and wives fight, dogs bark and babies do cry! I think that has been the hardest part for David and me while getting use to Trent is the crying, especially during those colic months. Now that he's at the age where his cry is not just for needs but now it's for wants it's even harder. We are now having to learn if he's crying to just be held or if he's is truly upset. Usually it's easy to tell the difference but of course we're still learning. We've been working very hard, especially at night and nap time, that when he cries to just let him cry it out. Of course, we'll check on him every 10 to 15 mins, calm him down and lay him down again. As I was going through pictures to take and print today I came across these that I took and it just made me laugh, especially because of the onsie he's wearing. Again, you need a sense of humor during parenthood so why not take pictures as you can tell the scream is about to come?!

Welcome home Mark!

Since David's little brother, Mark, has been away at the Navy, we waited until last Saturday to celebrate Christmas. It was so nice to finally spend some time with Mark and hear about his time away. It was also wonderful to finally get to spend a holiday with him as he has been away since before Thanksgiving in 2005! I'm so happy that he came home safe and sound but am extremely sad to see him go back soon. We also got to meet the newest member of our family, his wife Chantal.
