Just for laughs

So David finished putting together Trent's new bed frame and dresser drawers and moved the crib and matching dresser to the baby's room and set up Trent's room. When I got home the other night, we showed him his room with his new big boy bed and new dresser. He jaw dropped and he said "MAMA...What happen??" We both laughed and explained this is his big boy bed now. He had some fun climbing around on it and then realized his dresser drawer was different and we got another "MAMA MAMA...what happen??" as he pointed and really seemed a bit upset. We showed him it still had his clothes and socks in there. He seemed better after that. He's been sleeping in his big boy bed since Wednesday night and is doing awesome!! I was extremely worried about the switch but am getting more at ease now that I see he's doing so good in a regular bed. The first night we tucked him into a regular bed, I could have cried seeing my little boy looking all grown up! He only came out twice the first night and actually just sits in bed until I come get him in the mornings. It's so cute! (I'll post some pictures of his room once we are finished with painting and decorating it).

Then today, Trent brought his cup up to me and said "More, more" I have really been trying to work with him on sentences and putting his words together. When he just says one word like this, I'll have him repeat after me the full sentence "I want more milk please". So today I said, say a sentences so he said "Sentence". I couldn't stop laughing!

Getting Dressed

Anyone who's around Trent enough will notice that he is very particular about his shoes and socks. He can't have one on without the other and besides bedtime, he normally always wants them on! He loves getting dressed and he's gets his own socks and shoes. In the mornings when I'm getting ready, he gets very concerned that I have all of my clothes too!! The other morning I was dressed and just needed to put my shoes on and looking at my bare feet, he said "Mama, shoes, shoes!!" I told him "I know Trent, I'm going to get my shoes on". I walked into the bedroom and started getting my boots on and all of a sudden he comes running in with a pair of my flip flops and hands them to me "Here go mama". I thought it was the funniest, sweetest thing!!

Home Stretch

We are getting into the home stretch until we have our new little guy here! I'll be 30 weeks on Tuesday and am in shock at how quickly this pregnancy has gone by. I went to the doctor last week and she said everything is looking good. We heard his little heart beat and she thinks he's facing head down already. Also, unlike Trent, my belly was measuring at 29 weeks, exactly where it should be (Trent always measured a week or two ahead). I'm getting very excited to see what he looks like! All I know is he moves ALL THE TIME!

We ordered Trent's new furniture for his big boy room and David has been working to get all his new furniture together so we can move the crib to the baby's new room. Hopefully Trent will adjust to sleeping in a regular bed without any problems. I'm very excited to get both the boys rooms decorated and set up!

Turkey Day

Thanksgiving this year was really laid back and relaxing. Trent has had a cough and runny nose for a few days now so has been tired and cranky. I'm starting to get to the tired stage of the pregnancy and David had closed the night before so in the morning, we all slept and relaxed. After Trent's nap, we headed to David's mom's house and ate a ton of food!! It was all so good! The kids got to run around and play, the Cowboys won and everyone got to visit and kick back. Since Trent's been sick he really hasn't eaten anything the last few days but when the pies were brought out he had no problems eating himself a slice of pumpkin pie. Later, David's mom read him a book which he really enjoyed soon before we headed home. The kiddo passed out within 5 minutes of us leaving their house that night he was so worn out.

I also wanted to post a video of the life of our poor camera! Trent lately thinks he is a photographer and will find our camera and start playing with it. It records videos but not with sound and I found this one on here and just thought it was pretty amusing.

I am thankful for...

With all that is going on in the world around us I really wanted to take a minute to think about all that I am thankful for. It scares and upsets me to see so many people losing their jobs, taking pay cuts and becoming ill. I sit here and look around at my healthy husband and son, my overweight cat and the most loyal dog I've ever had, in our own home and couldn't be more grateful for all that is around me. I sit here and feel my unborn baby kick and move while cuddled on the couch watching tv and am grateful for this experience that many women want and may not ever be able to have. I drive to work thinking about how crazy my day will be but then stop and think how lucky I am to have my job and a car to get there. I could cry sometimes just wishing some of my family could live closer to me but then think how wonderful it is being able to just have them in life, supporting me and my family and just a phone call away. There really is so much negativity and scary things going on in the world today but I am extremely thankful for all that I do have and really couldn't ask for much more in my life.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

So much to do...

With the holidays approaching along with a new addition, I feel like my list of things to do just keeps expanding. We did manage a mini getaway to San Antonio a couple of weekends ago so that David could run the 1/2 marathon with his brother who did the full marathon. I am amazed by the amount of people who participate in these runs and complete them! Running one mile seems like a difficult task to me let alone 13 or 26!! To say the least, I was extremely proud of David and he did a great job! It was also very nice being able to go to San Antonio, eat on the riverwalk and enjoy walking around the city. We got to spend some time with my dad & Ginger too since they were down there with some of their friends from their running club.

Work has been pretty busy for both of us. David has been working on average 5-6 days straight and I feel like my days at work just fly by and by time I get home, I'm exhausted. This morning, Trent was pretty happy to have some cuddle time with his sleepy daddy. He even brought him a toy car and shared his blankies while they watched some Handy Manny. Later today at Trent's daycare, his sitter, Brandie, took the kids to the park, the pond and through the nature trail by our house. She said the kids had a blast feeding the ducks and exploring. Here are some pictures of Trent with his school buddies.

Coming together

Everyday it seems like Trent is trying to say more and more words and just last night he put together a sentence. I had made some pumpkin soup and asked him if he like it and he said "I like it. I like it ma ma." I don't know if I was more excited someone liked my cooking or that he said a sentence :-) Also, to help his words and frustration, if I'm not understanding what he says, I've started asking him to show me. So now, he'll say "Hand ma ma" then he'll take my hand and walk me over to what he's talking about and we'll work together on the words to use. Another humors thing he'll do is if we are the grocery store and he hears another kid crying or screaming, he'll say "Shuussssh" with his little finger over his mouth and all.

Happy Halloween

After seeing Trent's Halloween, I would have to officially say, this child is spoiled! He not only went trick or treating once but three times! It was incredibly adorable and funny watching him and he had a fun, candy filled day. In the morning, his daycare lady, Brandie, took the 4 little ones, with one of her friends, to City Hall in Little Elm to do trick or treating. She took a ton of pictures and said that the kids had a great time. Thursday for their project at school, she helped all the kids decorat their little bags for trick or treating (very cute!!). After a busy morning and a few suckers, Trent finished his day at school. David picked him up later that afternoon and brought him up to my work so I could show off my cute little devil. Trent kept walking up to people's desk and would look for candy or any other form of sweet that he could find. After getting candy he would wave and say bye and move on to the next person. We weren't planning on him getting candy there so we had to improvise and David's mom gave him a little flower bucket to carry around. He filled that bucket up REAL quick! After a cookie, a sucker and some visiting at work, David and Trent headed home while I finished up at work. Once I got home, my mom and Kelly brought some dinner over for everyone. After eating, we headed out to do some more trick or treating. The first couple of houses, Trent kept trying to walk into. He was having trouble saying trick or treat so sometimes he would just say candy. Once he got some candy he would wave and say bye. He was just too cute :-) I can say, after his busy sugar filled day, he passed out and slept very good last night!

Busy busy

So these last couple of weeks have been really busy!! David's little brother, Mark came home from Virginia for a little over a week and brought his sweet little girl, Jayanna with him. She just turned 1 in September and was really just too adorable. I got to babysit her one night and had so much fun. Trent was unsure of her at first but did really good being gentle when he played with her, helped me get her to bed, gave her hugs and when he woke up, ran straight into the guest room kept saying "Baby..baby...wake up!" He was ready to play :-) They were just adorable running around together, laughing and giggling. I really miss my two nieces (Jayanna & Teagan) and my little nephew (Braden) that I don't get to see very often! It was just wonderful to get that time with her! Now I'm just counting down till I see Braden and Teagan at Christmas!

Trent has been keeping us very busy too. We have a box of crafts for him, crayons, coloring books, play dough, glitter glue, etc and apparently we under estimated he's capability of opening this container so we have kept it in his play room. One day when I came home I had noticed some crayons and a color book on the fire place and just thought David had gotten it out for him. The next night he was in his play room and I went to check on him and had found his whole box of crayons all chewed and broken all over the floor!! I guess before breaking them he decided to color the bricks on the fireplace too. I later said something to David about leaving it out and he thought I had gotten them out for him. At that point, we figured out he had done this all on his own. Lesson learned.

Also, the last couple of days, I have asked David to walk with me in an attempt to not gain as much weight this second time around (fingers crossed!) Trent is at a stage where he would rather walk with us than ride in the stroller and so we get the dog and head out. Trent LOVES walking the dog but the dog just makes him fly right to the ground! He doesn't even care about the fall, he cares that the dog got away and starts yelling "Boo boo...boo boo come back" and starts chasing him. So David has to walk in the middle of the two of them and hold the leash and then he lets Trent hold the end part. I really get a big kick out of this and tried to get a good picture but it's very hard to catch!! They are just all over the place, Trent's laughing and having fun, the dogs a little freaked out and David gets all wrapped up in the leash.

Last but not least, Trent is quite my little helper! We made some banana bread for him to take to his daycare tomorrow and he really enjoyed this. He is such a helper and loved the stirring, pouring and of course tasting at the end. He's very interested in learning what we are doing and what things are so he would constantly ask me but when he knew things like the eggs would say "Eggs ma ma!" very excited and proud.

Sorry for the very long blog but like I said, we've been busy and wanted to get everyone caught up :-)

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday afternoon, Trent and I met up with my friend Marguerite and her little boy, Austin, and her sister and her little girl at the pumpkin patch on Bill Bate's ranch. I had taken Trent there his first Halloween when he was a little baby and this time he was able to run and play and enjoy himself there. We got to feed some animals (he's becoming a pro at this!) and he went on his very first hayride. I think his favorite part was when him and Austin ran around the pumpkin patch filling their wagon full of pumpkins!!

I have been very impressed with Trent lately and his words. It's like they are all finally starting to fall together. He tries very hard to say words and know what things are. For example, he keeps calling pumpkins either balls or apples but when I tell him pumpkin, he repeats the word pretty well. He's also starting to put his words more into sentences like "Wanna help you", when he wants to help me out and of course a classic "What doin?"

I also wanted to post a picture of myself at 21 weeks. I keep hearing from people at work how I'm not looking pregnant but I sure feel like I am. This baby is very active and moves a lot. You can really feel him more and more on the outside so I called Trent over the other night to feel him move. I guess he thought I was pretending because he would put his hand on my stomach and then he would jump around like he kicked him hard (and he didn't even move where Trent was feeling). He even put his cheek on my tummy and did the same thing, if anything, it was very entertaining!

State Fair

Yesterday David, Trent, Kelly (my mom's husband) and me had a fun filled day at the state fair. It was so nice going during the middle of the week because it wasn't too crowded. The weather was perfect and we had such a great time there. We ate so much food full of sugar or that was fried, it's not even funny! Trent had his first bite of cotton candy and he wasn't a big fan. I think it dissolving in his mouth kind of throw him off guard. He really enjoyed seeing all of the animals and the petting area. When we first got to the petting zoo, you can buy small cups of food, so we did and I showed him how to feed the animals. I had stuck the cup out and let a goat eat from it. After he saw me feed the goat I handed him the cup to feed more animals. Well I guess he was feeling pretty generous, because he let a goat eat from the cup for about a second and then decided to pour the food out on the ground for him to eat. After getting another cup, we made sure to help him with feedings after that! It was funny too, because that one goat seemed to be falling him. As we walked around, Trent got to see Big Tex talk, we saw part of the bird show and he watched kids on some of the rides. He was tall enough to ride the kiddy rides but we didn't feel like he was ready to try a ride by himself quite yet (maybe next year). Also, a very entertaining part of the day was when we stopped for funnel cakes and lemonade. We were all eating parts of the funnel cake and were almost finished. There was a pretty good sized piece left and Trent realized this may be the last bite so he grabbed it and stuffed the whole piece in his mouth!!! It was very funny watching him chew this huge piece of funnel cake! After walking around for most of the day he did finally pass out for about 30-45 mins but we ended up leaving shortly after he woke up. We were all pretty tired and full!! I'm looking forward to going again next year when he's a little bit older. I can't tell everyone how great it is to finally be at a point to do things like this with him.

BABY #2

IT'S A BOY!!!

I'll get pictures posted as soon as I can get them scanned but so far so good! He weighs 13 ounces and is already measuring 6 days bigger than due date. I wish I had a camera to take a picture of the relieved look on David's face. It was priceless :-)

Fun outside

I'm just LOVING this weather lately!! Not too too hot, not too cold. It's been great. Trent absolutely loves being outside too; he gets so excited when we go outside to play. I've been working really hard to find outside toys for him and was lucky to purchase a kids picnic table and see saw at some garage sales so we are slowly getting there. I pulled out the side walk chalk today and Trent was in heaven. He really enjoys coloring and all sorts of crafts. During his school time during the week they learn a new color each week, so he's been doing really good with his colors lately. He's able to identify them better and say them better also. For some reason, he can't get the word red out yet but we're still working on it :-)

Also, I would like everyone to please keep David's grandma and his family in their prayers. She has been fighting ovarian cancer for about 4 years now and she is not doing too well. She has been moved to hospice and this has just been a very emotional week for us. She is one of the strongest people I have ever meant.; her sense of humor is priceless, she has a wonderful laugh and a joy for life that warms your heart.

Funny little guy

So Trent is really starting to put his words together and definitely can understand what we are saying. There are times that he really cracks us up! I've been talking to him about the new baby here and there. I'll show him the baby diapers and ask who's they are and he'll say "Da babies!!" after that I asked him where the baby was and he yelled out "BAABBYYY" Just like he would call for the dog! I showed him my belly and told him the baby was in my belly so he said hi to the baby.

The other day I was getting ready for work and he came into the bathroom. I pulled up my shirt and showed him my belly and asked if he wanted to say hi to the baby. So he said "Hi baby" then he pulled down my shirt and said "Bye baby" right after! I really couldn't stop laughing as he walked out of the bathroom. Guess he wasn't in the mood to talk :-)

Growing...

We had Trent's two year check up last week and he's doing great! He is officially 3 feet tall and in the 95 percentile for height; he's 32.6 lbs and in the 85 percentile for weight. We went through all of the things that he is doing and the doctor said it sounds like he's right on track for his age. My next task is to start teaching him to drink from a cup without a lid which so far, he doesn't seem to be a fan of since he can't drink as quickly but he does a wonderful job not spilling and setting his cup back down. We're also aiming to get him in a "big boy" bed by December. As active and fearless as he is, he has not tried to climb out of his crib yet so the doctor recommended keeping him in there for now.

For those who have not heard, we are expecting our second little; our due date is February 17th and we are very excited about our growing family!! We will be finding out what we are having October 1st and I'm 19 weeks today. Everything is going great so far and this baby seems be to very busy. I've been feeling it move for some time now and David even got to feel a little kick too :-)
I'm a member of a site called Baby Center which is a great site! It sends pregnancy updates of how your baby is growing and how your body is changing and then I get updates for Trent on new things he may be doing or ideas to work/play with your children. On this weeks email it had a link to a predictor to find out your child's adult height. I entered in all the information and by the age of 18 Trent may be around 6 ft 2 in. Of course this is a guess off of statistics and so forth but it still pretty fun.

I will keep everyone updated after our next appointment!

Happy 2nd Birthday

So today our little man is 2! I really can't get over how quick 2 years has gone by. It's amazing how dependent and unaware of the world he was 2 years ago and now he's talking, has an opinion and a distinct personality. I truly love him more and more everyday and have enjoyed the ups and downs to being a mom (even when those hard times are hard.) For his birthday, David and I took the day off from work and took him to the zoo. It was a great day to go because it wasn't very crowded at all! At first I think he enjoyed running around more than anything but really had fun when we saw birds and the "kitty cats". Most of the animals were sleeping or laying around so I think it was hard for him to really see them sometimes. They also had a part of the zoo called Texas Wild were he had a ton of fun. They had areas for him to climb, buttons to push to hear animal sounds and a small petting area with goats, pigs and chickens. Trent also had his very first train ride and really enjoyed it. We sat there and said "Choo Choo" as we went around and saw the different parts of the zoo. After our busy day at the zoo we came home and we all took a very much needed nap. After our naps, we hung out and relaxed and ordered some mexican food for dinner. We got Trent a mini cake and he enjoyed every bite! He was even licking his fingers as he ate it. After a VERY much needed bath we gave him his presents (a fire truck and his new favorite toy, cars!) We also got him a little book shelf for his play room which I think I like more than he does :-) Overall, it has been a great day and it's so nice to be able to do more activities with him now that he is getting older. I can't wait to see what the next year brings us.

School Days

So since school has started, Trent's daycare lady, Ms Brandie, has just the little ones (Trent, twins the same age as him and her 3 year old). Since it's just the four of them and they are all so close in age, she's been able to do school time with him which has been great! He comes home with his sheets of what he has done during the day, they have circle time, book time, craft time and focus on learning new things. Just last week they have had fun with coloring, playing with shaving cream and finger painting! They focused on learning the letter A, the number 1 and the color red. She is also working on name recognition. She has explained it may take a little while until he puts all these items together but one day all these things they are working on will just click for him in the next 6 months or so. He gets so proud of his of pictures and shows them to me when I come to get him. This one picture just cracks me up because it really shows Trent's personality. The other two boys his age are painting gentling and slowly and he's just going crazy with his finger paints.

Last Weekend

Last Saturday we had a family get together at my aunt Jayne's house. It was so nice seeing all of the family, hanging out, eating, watching the kids play and watching some very old video's from a very long time ago! (Adrianne and Ashlie, I wish you two could have been there too to see how funny we were but I have to say, we sure looked like we were having fun!!) I can't tell you how much fun Trent had there too! My cousin's little boy was there and he's about 9 months older than Trent and after a little warming up to each other, they were best buds. Running around, laughing and giggling. They played with cars together, had a wagon ride, watched some cartoons and just had a blast. I really have not heard Trent laugh that hard in a long time. I was very lucky too since my cousin has started into photography so she got some very adorable pictures! Up top is our Mr. Serious not wanting to smile from her and below is a sweet little hug between the boys. Part of the family getting together was to annouce that my Uncle Gerald will be going over seas again real soon. I will pray that he will stay safe and we can't wait to see him back real soon!!!

Happy Birthday Teagan!

My sister's baby, Teagan, was born today around 7:30am. She is 8lbs 8oz and 20 1/2 inches long. We are thinking 8 just may be her lucky number...born 8/8/08, 8lb 8oz...very strange! Here are some pictures of the precious new little one :-)

Hi Adrianne!!

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged so I apologize and I would like to let Adrianne know this is for her :-) (She's a bit scary right now so I don't want to upset her. Her baby will be here tomorrow though and we can't wait!!!!!) Our little family has been B U S Y!! David has been working so much (almost everyday!) now that he's done with school and has been submitting his resume to companies but unfortunately, he hasn't received any calls for interviews yet. I've been pretty busy at work and taking care of our little guy. Trent's been having a great time over at Ms Brandie's house. Our friends with the twins have started using her as well so he has some little buddies over there. It's adorable when I drop him off, they come running to the door saying "TRENT!!!" and then they all just start playing away. It's been very hard to get some pictures of Trent lately because he feels he should be taking the pictures, not photographed. I pull out the camera and most of the time he'll grab at it and when I don't let him have it, to the floor he goes for his little fit. I was able to the get one above and some in the bath playing with his bath foam that he loves! So check in tomorrow and I should have some pictures of my new niece posted!!! YAY!!!

Happy 4th of July

We have a very busy and fun filled July 4th!! In the morning, Trent and I went to Pump it Up in Frisco with some friends. It's a place with bounce houses and bounce slides that normally does just birthday parties but on Monday and Friday's they have a pop in and play for an hour and a half so we decided to check it out. At first, Trent wasn't too sure about it there but by the end, he was having so much fun. There was one bounce house with a big circle thing in the middle and I would put him on top and he loved sliding down. Then there was a huge slide that he finally got the hang up walking up and sliding down. He would slide down backwards and then once he got to the bottom he would stand up and just be laughing. It was so much fun to watch. After we left, of course he was pooped and ready for his nap. We headed home and he took a good 2 1/2 hour nap! During this time, I took advantage of two sleeping guys and headed to the pool to get some sun :-) After nap time for everyone we hung out at the house for a bit and then headed to my sister in law's parent's house. They live by the lake outside of the county, so we are able to shoot fireworks there. When we got there, Trent and his cousin Gavin played in the pool for awhile. They had a blast splashing around in there! Then we all ate some dinner and I discovered Trent LOVES watermelon!!! He had about 4 or 5 pieces all together yesterday! Trent also had so much fun playing with his friends, Carson and Logan. All four little ones were just running around, eating watermelon and having so much fun together. It's really nice having friends with kids so close in age. After all the eating and playing, it got dark so the guys went down to start the fireworks. Like last year, Trent is not a fan of this at all! He would be walking around, then a firework would go off, he would come running to me saying "mommy, mommy", jump in my lap and hide his head in my shoulder. I can't even begin to count how many times he did this. At one point, he started covering his eyes which was kind of cute but I felt pretty bad for him. By the end of our home firework show, Trent was doing a lot better but still a bit on edge from the fireworks. He was very excited to see daddy after the show was over! Overall, our day was really fun yet very exhausting! We all got to sleep in this morning which was extremely nice. I hope everyone else had a wonderful 4th of July!!!
