Christmas Day

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Trent, besides the fact that I started getting sick on Christmas Eve. We started off by waking up and opening presents. It made me laugh that Trent is as big as his stocking. From there we met up with my mom, her boyfriend, my sister and her boyfriend for brunch at the reunion tower. After that we went over the my Aunt Gail's house to see my dad, step mom and their family. It was pretty busy but very nice. Now here some pictures of the family at the tower and my grandma Fletta with Trent and his cousin Noah.

Here comes Santa Claus...

Yesterday my mom and I took Trent to go see Santa Claus. Trent slept during the whole hour plus wait, but by time we got up to see Santa, he woke up. It was so cute how Trent looked up at him and started "talking". He was just so awed by him! I wonder if he asked for his two bottom teeth for Christmas...

Gavin's baptism

Sorry it has been so long since I've posted but it's been very busy with working again, taking care of Trent and the holidays. Last Sunday was a very special day, our youngest nephew, Gavin was baptised and I had the wonderful honor of becoming his godmother. The picture on the left makes me realize how big our little boy really is if you take in that is cousin is 6 months older than him. We weighed him the other day and he's about 16 lbs now. I can't wait until his 4 month doctor's appointment in January to see what percentile he is at.

Our new routine...

Well, so far so good. We are half way through the week and we are just trying to get ourselves on a new routine. Monday was extremely hard for me! I barely made it through the doors at work before I just broke down and cried but by the end of the day it felt like I had never left. I think one of the hardest parts is that Trent is really happy and ready to play in the mornings and at night he can get kind of cranky, so coming home I'm ready to play with him and the last couple of nights he hasn't been ready to play with me. If he wakes up before I leave for work I try to take in every minute I can with him.

Just a few more days...

Well, the time has finally come that I have to go back to work on Monday. I've tried so hard to take in every moment I can with Trent as I know I won't get an opportunity to stay home with him permanently anytime soon. It blows my mind thinking that almost 12 weeks ago he was this tiny newborn baby who could barely do anything and now he's smiling and grabbing objects, he recognizes voices and is just so interested in every little thing around him! I am just so happy to know that Trent will be with either his daddy, his aunt or his grandma becky while I'm at work. I've already requested that when David has him all day Mondays that they come to eat lunch with me. I also wonder how my first "son" is going to handle not having his mommy home with him too! He's really enjoyed the quality time we've had together.

Thanksgiving with my dad

First off, I will apologize for so many pictures but it was just so hard picking which ones to post. Well, on Thanksgiving morning my sisters, Adrianne and Brittany, my dad and I all woke up bright and early to do the Turkey Trot. To the left is a picture of us right before the walk began. David was suppose to join us but the cold he had been fighting to get over came back ten times worse so he stayed home to sleep so he could join us later and enjoy some good food. We left Trent with his grandma Ginger and Aunt Gail to "help" them while they cooked. To the right is a picture of Trent hanging out with my cousin Alex all decked out in his Turkey bib. It was such a nice Thanksgiving because we had so many people in town. My other cousins, Jeff, his wife Amy, their little one Gus, Melissa and her husband Bill also came in from out of town to celebrate. To the left is a picture of Trent and me and as you can see in the background is little Gus exploring the backyard. I just can't get over what a perfect first Thanksgiving it was, besides David being sick, with so many people for Trent to meet for the first time and to see again. To finish off all the pictures, I had to add in one with his grandma Ginger. He just looks so tired from the busy week he had but happy to be in his grandma's arms. I am just looking forward to a wonderful Christmas that is just right around the corner!

Thanksgiving at my mom's house

Due to having so much family in town this year, we had two Thanksgiving dinners, one at my mom's house on Wednesday evening and one at my Aunt Gail's house with my dad's family on Turkey Day. It was very special this year at my mom's house because my grandma flew in from Maryland to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. She finally got to meet her fourth great-grandchild and just loved being around him. Also, while my older sister, Adrianne, was still in town, our mom treated us to the Mavericks game on Saturday night. It was so much fun! Below is a picture of myself, my sister, my grandma and my mom after the Mav's game.

What a big boy!

We went to the doctor the other day for Trent's 2 month check up and he is weighing in at about 14 pounds and is 24 inches long. He's about in the 90th percentile for his age. He's growing up so quickly! To the left is a picture of Trent in his cowboy gear from a week or so ago and to the right is one of him in his outfit just a few days old...he doesn't even look like the same baby! Look how much his onsie use to hang on him and now it's starting to get a little snug.

Naps, baths and smiles

Trent was sure in a different mood yesterday! He just wanted to sleep all day long. After he finished eating late in the afternoon, I put him in his bumbo chair so he could look around and work on his head. I figured since he had been napping all day he would finally stay awake. I went to go get some laundry started and when I got back to check on him I found him passed out in his chair! Then later that night he finally started to wake up and wanted to play. I gave him his bath and he was so good. He didn't cry once and actually really enjoyed himself. He just stared at his daddy and "talked" to that other baby in the mirror. When I took him out to dry him off he just smiled and started "talking" to me. Of course I asked David to get the camera and by time he has it we couldn't catch Trent's full smile...just this small one. I think we have a camera shy baby :-)

A new baby?!

I've heard so many people tell me to just wait till about 3 months and it's like a new baby because he'll start sleeping through the night and the colic will go away and so on...well it's already happened!! Ever since last Friday, Trent has been sleeping 6-8 hours a night. It was really sad too because I put him to bed around 8 or 9 like normal and I started getting sleepy around 11 but figured I might as well stay awake. Midnight passed and then 12:30 and he was still sleeping! Finally, I feel asleep and didn't wake up until about 4 am. I figured it was one night thing but sure enough every night since he has been sleeping "through the night"! On top of that he has been so happy and playful. He really gets fussy if he's tired or hungry but besides that he just hangs out and takes in everything around him. Up at the top is a picture of Trent with his little twin buddies and to the right is him in his bumbo chair. He's head control is getting better each and every day.

Happy Halloween

Trent had a very busy Halloween! We started off meeting one of my friends for lunch. From there we went over to another friend's house to see her twin boys who were born just 4 days after Trent. After that we met up with my sister in law and her three kiddos. We got all the kids dressed up and went to mine and my mother in laws work. Then Trent got to join his cousins and their friends while they went trick or treating around the neighborhood...well actually Trent was dressed in his pumpkin costume sleeping all bundled in his stroller. Here is a picture of Trent with the youngest, Gavin. It was pretty difficult trying to get a picture of a 7 week old and an 8 month old but soon enough these two will be playing non stop together!

Smile!

Over the last week or so Trent has started to smile. At first he would only smile after his bottle but lately he's started smiling here and there. It's hard to get a picture because whenever I grab the camera he stops and stares at me like I'm crazy. This is the cloest I've been able to get and even in this one he moved his hand in front of his mouth. Yesterday was one of the most rewarding moments I've had from Trent. My mom watched him overnight on Saturday and I went to go pick him up from her house yesterday, when I got there and picked him up and said hi to my little guy he flashed me a huge smile! I am really going to miss spending so much time with him when I have to go back to work but I am trying to treasue each and everyday we have right now.

The Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday I took Trent out to the pumpkin patch for some pictures. It was a little chilly so we only got a couple pictures in. I think he really enjoyed fitting in with the pumpkins in his Halloween costume.

Our little Burrito

Last time we went to the doctor we found out that Trent is colicky. The doctor gave us some information and a new formula to try to help soothe him. One of the main things she suggested was to swaddle the baby since it reminds them of being in their mommy's belly. Well, for the life of us, David and I cannot keep him swaddled in a blanket without him wiggling out of it within seconds. Some people had bought us these swaddle blankets as gifts that at first were a bit confusing but after playing with them I figured out how to get him swaddled nice and tightly where he can't wiggle out. It really seems to work! He's been sleeping so much better since we've been doing this. When he's all wrapped up we think he looks like a little Trent Burrito.

Playtime

Trent is staying awake longer now and sometimes will sit there and just take in all of his surroundings. One thing he enjoys is laying on his gymini looking and hitting his toys. I don't think he fully comprehends that he's making them move when he hits them but it's really fun to watch him take it all in.

A weekend with the grandparents

This weekend was David's 10 year high school reunion so Trent got a weekend with his grandparents. Friday night my mom kept him and then Saturday David's mom had him. Saturday was his first overnight not at home and a little hard but very nice to get some sleep!! Here are some pictures that the grandma's took of Trent while he was visiting with them. The one on the left is from Grandma Pam's house and the one on the right is from Grandma Becky's house. I think all the grandparents had a great time with Trent this weekend.

The Bird

I know this might be inapporiate but David and I just found it kind of humorous. The other day while feeding Trent I noticed he had just only one of his fingers sticking straight up at me. You think he would have been happy since he was eating :-)
He is getting more and more alert and has discovered new noises besides crying. His neck is getting stronger and stronger and he can keep his head up for awhile now.

Meeting Grandpa

Trent's grandpa came in from Houston on Sunday to meet him. It was a very nice visit and unfortunately grandpa had to go back home today. It was so much fun seeing the two of them together. Trent can't wait to see him and his grandma and aunts again at Thanksgiving!!

Our new addition

Inspired by my cousin's site for her little man, I have decided to create a site for our new little guy. With family and friends spread out in different cities, I wanted everyone to be able to watch him grow with us. Just over the last three weeks it has been amazing how much he is changing. On the left is a picture from the hospital when he was just a day old. To the right is one from just the other day. He is making more noises and faces, which is so much fun to watch! He is so much more alert and will sometimes just sit there and take everything in around him. Overall, we are really enjoying being new parents.
