Lesson I learned

Ever since we've brought Carter home we haven't pushed Trent to interact with him or hold him (except when we did Carter's new born picture and even a sucker didn't work to get him to hold him!! LOL); we really leave it up to Trent so that he doesn't feel pressure. So when Trent ask to hold Carter I get really excited! He has only asked a few times and normally it's really a short time he wants to hold him so I haven't gotten a picture until last night. I grabbed the camera really quick and got a picture of Trent and Carter. See below:

As I was looking at the picture and trying to get another one I guess Trent decided he was done so he started pushing Carter off of him hence the cut off head and Carter moving down. See below:

Lesson: Don't try to take a picture of a 2 year hold holding a baby without another adult to supervise.

Croup & Coos

So this last week has been very exhausting. Trent had a fever last Sunday & Monday and then had a cold the next few days. Thursday night he woke up with the croup cough and wheezing. If anyone has heard this cough, it's extremely scary!! It sounds like they can barley breath. That night I got very little sleep because as soon as I got one of the boys to sleep the other woke up. I do have to say it was really cute when I went to calm Trent down I gave him some water to drink. He burped after drinking it and in between his coughs still said "Excuse me ma ma". Too funny! I got him to the doctor the next morning and got him started on some medicine so after a ton of sleep and some medicine, he is doing much better today.

Carter has not been sick (thank goodness!!) and has actually been cooing more and more. I'm able to keep him awake during the day more with some toys and talking which is great. He's starting to go 4-5 hours in between his bottles at night which is SO nice! Our little piggy is eating about 6 ounces now which I think is what is helping him go longer between his bottles. I've been working hard to get a little coo on video so here it is:

A baby's life

Just the other day Carter started cooing and my heart just melted! Those little smiles and coos just make it all worth it!! Other than that he really doesn't do too much besides the normal baby things, you know, sleep, eat, cry. Here is a little video of him doing what he does. I tried to catch the cooing on video but of course he stopped when I can by with the camera.

Also, some of you may know that my dad has been recently diagnosied with bladder cancer. Yesterday they had to remove his bladder since the cancer was spreading. His recovery will take any where from 6-8 weeks. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers during this time and feel free to visit his blog for more information or to leave him a note: http://bmilligan.blogspot.com/

Trip to the park

With the wonderful weather, we made a trip to the park with the boys. It was great getting out of the house and getting some fresh air!

Monthly Growth

I have seen people do this and think it's a great, fun idea! Each month you take a picture of your baby with an object or in a piece of clothing to visually see their growth. I felt the red dog would be a great object to take a picture of with Carter each month so here is 1 month old.

2 1/2 years and 1 month old

Yesterday Trent was officially 2 1/2 years old and today Carter is 1 month old. My boys are growing too fast right before my eyes!! We took Carter to the doctor today for his 1 month check up and here are his stats:

Height: 22 1/8 inches-75 percentile
Weigth: 11 lbs-85 percentile
Head: 15 inches-50 percentile

I have learned some lessons since I've had Trent and that is document more because I unfortunately didn't keep track of all of Trent's growth and milestones and am kicking myself for it now! Luckily I have a wonderful doctor's office and I asked the nurse if she could pull Trent's information for me. My jaw just about dropped when I heard Trent's stats at 1 month old because they were so similar!

Trent's 1 month stats:

Height: 22 1/2 inches
Weight: 10lbs 8 oz
Head: 15 inches

They are definitely brothers and I think it looks like we may have another big boy on our hands!

Ohhhhh Toodles

One of Trent's favorite shows to watch is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. On the show there is a helper called Toodles. He carries all the items to help Mickey and his friends and when they need Toodles, they call out "Ohhh Toodles" and he comes flying in. Trent has a few pair of pajamas with Mickey on them and awhile back as I was getting Trent ready for bed he called out for Toodles. I told him Toodles was sleeping so from that moment on whenever you ask him where Toodles is, he will tell you he's sleeping. Tonight I was getting Trent ready for bed and he picked out a pair of his Mickey pajamas. He called out "Ohhhh Toodles" so I asked him where Toodles was. I was expecting his regular answer of sleeping when he told me "Playing with cars." It really caught me off guard and made me giggle. His imagination is really starting to develop and grow. I'm just again amazed at how much he has changed in just in the past few months!

Here is my newest little guy showing off those muscles.

(Adrianne, I hope this put a smile on your face...I thought of you as soon as he said this!)

The red dog

When Carter was born, David took Trent to the drug store so he could pick out a birthday gift for him. Since it was so close to Valentine's day he ended up picking out a stuffed red dog. Trent has not been the type of brother that wants to hold the baby or feed him but shows these little signs of affection. For example, in the morning he looks for Carter so he can tell him good morning. When I change Carter's diapers he'll go grab powder and wipes without me even asking. And my favorite thing he does is he gives Carter his dog. These pictures are ones that I have taken when I have randomly found the dog on Carter. I'll be in the other room and go to check on the baby and find the dog like this. I think it's absolutely adorable that Trent wants to make sure he has his red dog :-) What a sweet little guy!

Brothers

I know one of the biggest questions with a new baby is "Who does he look like?" I've had a lot of people ask if he looks like Trent did when he was a baby and this has been a hard question to answer. I have done a ton of staring at Carter and I definitely think they look like brothers but in my opinion, Carter favors David and Trent favors me. I tried to find some pictures with similar poses so I could see what everyone else thought. Of course, I think it's still hard to say since new babies change everyday but still it's fun to compare the two!

Trent is on the left and Carter on the right:
